FAQ

What do you want to know about Curious Ear? Hopefully you'll find it here. If you don't, send us an email and ask us. We’re super friendly!

Is what I share anonymous? Will people know it’s me?

The ear logs the location and date/time along with your recording, but other than that there’s no personally identifiable information. Unless you say your name to the ear, or someone knows your voice really well (like your parents, partners, close friends) no one will know it’s you.

How is this project funded?

Right now, we’re all self-funded. We’ve been applying for grants, and are planning a fundraising event for summer 2017. We’re also looking into partner organizations interested in helping us create more durable construction, out of materials like rubber, aluminum or something we haven’t even thought of yet. (Right now the ear and mouth are made of paper mache and you know … Portland rain is notorious for melting paper ears and mouths.)

I’d like to be a part of Curious Ear. How do I get involved?

Share your story with the ear, spread the word about the project, and let us know where you think Curious Ear would most benefit people. (Just shoot us an email or a message on Facebook!) If you’re interesting in volunteering, send an email with the subject line “volunteer interest” and we’ll get back to you as soon as humanly possible!.

Has Curious Ear been mentioned in the news?

Why yes we have--right over here (big thank you to writer Jack Rubinger!)

Your project is amazing and I want to sponsor or host it.

We’re thrilled to hear that and would love to meet you. Get in touch with us and let us know how we might be able to work together!
